The home to 10,000 cyclists! On Saturday, July 1st 2017 Killarney will be a destination point in the annual Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle where people ride in a “ring” around Kerry with all proceeds benefiting charities. The ring circles through locations such as Kells, Waterville, Blackwater Bridge, and Ladies View offering bike repairs, food and medical attention along the wat. It’s quite a difficult challenge but for great causes!
Watch and participate as downtown Killarney gets transformed into Main street USA! In its 4th year running, the July 4th celebration of America’s freedom promises to be bigger and better than all its prior years with \ colourful and memorable parade, a traditional all American BBQ, live street music, entertainment, and performances all day and night. The festival itself aims to celebrate the US and all the years of legacy it has shared with Ireland.
Join the Killarney’s horse race enthusiasts as they celebrate four days at the July Racing Festival from Monday 17th of July to Thursday 20th at the Killarney Racetracks. The Killarney Racecourse will infuse the best of horse racing with a festive atmosphere of food, entertainment and fun with such events as the The Dawn Milk Ladies Day, the Queen of Fashion and the Most Stylish Hat Competition. A great time for all ages!
Recognised as Ireland’s premier triathlon, the Hardman Triathlon takes place in the in beautiful, scenic Killarney and the South West regions of Ireland on August 19th, 2017. Swimming 3.8kms in Killarney’s lakes, cycling 180 kms through the Ring of Kerry, and running a full marathon within the Killarney National Park. People come from near and far to participate or watch the events.
The summer months are extremely popular times for horse racing! The Killarney August Racing Festival takes place on Wednesday 23rd to Saturday 26th of August 2017. Once again, the event is full of all the best races, and with its long-time association with style and elegance, the festival will host its second Ladies day of the season with fantastic prizes for the “Best Dressed Lady”
We read above about the Ring of Kerry Charity Race, but how about doing it “The Wrong Way Around” or “The Hard Way Around?” On Saturday, 26th August 2017 participants will have the chance to do just that! They can choose from two off beat tracks to race on providing different and new obstacles and bike tracks to tackle from the Ring of Kerry Race. It’s a fun event to raise money for a great cause, and ends with a festival of food and celebration that's inviting to all.
