American Football in Ireland

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic takes place on 26th August in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium and is expected to be attended by around 50,000 attendees from Ireland, Europe and the US. The clash between Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish from Indiana and Navy Midshipmen from Maryland will mark the third time the pair have gone head-to-head in Dublin. We’re guaranteed a great game with all of the action we can expect from American Football with a uniquely Irish twist. Marcus Freeman’s team will take on Ken Niumatalolo’s side to face off in the  Week Zero game on Saturday, August 26th witnessed by what is usually a sell-out stadium crowd. Aviva Stadium is home to the Irish Rugby Football Union and the Football Association of Ireland and has been the home of College football in Europe since Boston College played in 1988.

Killarney National Park

Cahernane House Hotel is adjacent to Ireland’s oldest national park, renowned as the Jewel of Kerry, Killarney National Park. The park is home to the famous 19th-century mansion Muckross House & Gardens, Torc Waterfall, The Lakes of Killarney, and medieval Ross Castle. You’ll be joined by some of the island’s native flora and fauna along the way and you’ll be surprised how much the species between continents differ. The park’s rugged landscape is 25,000 acres, encompassing Ireland’s highest mountain range, the McGillycuddy Reeks. Enjoy the park on foot or by bicycle, available for free on a limited basis from our reception team, or hop on a jaunting car for a traditional ride and tour guide. Killarney is also recognised as the gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way.

Wild Atlantic Way

You’ve heard of Route 66, now experience the Irish equivalent. Undertaken by car, bus, motorbike and for some brave participants, bicycle, The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the most prominent road trip destinations in Europe. After an exhilarating game and a couple of great nights in Dublin, many guests journey to the South-West of Ireland to enjoy the greenest part of the country. Enjoy Ireland’s famous 50 shades of green, some of the most beautiful scenery you’re likely to see, and a Cead Mile Failte (one hundred thousand welcomes) that you’ll never forget. The Wild Atlantic Way is 2,500 km (1600 miles) of driving routes, passing through 9 counties and three provinces. The Kerry section is arguably the most beautiful, but it’s likely we’re biased!

Killarney Town Centre

While it’s good to get back to Nature, Killarney Town Centre is where you’ll find some of the most authentic people, music and food in Kerry. A quaint, modern yet traditional place, Killarney has something for everyone. The range of pubs here is second to none, with everything from cocktail and disco bars to traditional pubs with no TVs. Take in the vibrant coloured buildings, enjoying the narrow lanes and alleyways because you never know what you’ll find. Enjoy street art, independent shops and cafes and so much more in Killarney, a place beloved by visitors from all over the world.
