Here at Cahernane House Hotel, we are celebrating our recent accreditation with Green Tourism.
Green Tourism operate a globally recognised certification programme which audits the commitment of tourism businesses who are actively working to become more sustainable. Their environmental assessors give professional advice on areas such as reducing energy use, saving water, ethical buying, staying local and promoting biodiversity.
Commenting on the award, General Manager Emer Corridan said “Our staff has worked endlessly behind the scenes to become a greener and more sustainable hotel, so this independent accreditation was incredibly important to us. I would like to give massive thanks to our team for helping us secure this award and a special thanks to Assistant Manager, Darren Looney who led our sustainability committee. Our Sustainability effort can be seen as a collective more than an individual effort from our staff members, as every initiative taken place can be completed by many different staff members on a weekly basis. From larger projects such as installing energy-efficient machinery to everyday practices such as switching off lights and appliances, conserving water and reducing food waste, everyone got involved and helped us to create a more sustainable business. Our leisure and corporate guests are now looking for destinations, attractions and activities that provide a level of eco-awareness in their operations so we are very pleased that our green practices have been independently audited and recognised with Silver status.”
