Killarney has walks to suit all ages and abilities; from a short scenic stroll through Killarney National Park to exhilarating hikes in the MacGillicuddy Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland. Many of the best walks and hikes start from the hotel or bikes are available for guests to borrow if you’d prefer a scenic cycle. We can also provide a picnic from the hotel’s award-winning restaurant for you to enjoy by the lake.

Horse Riding in Killarney National Park

Hold your horses

Horse Riding is a unique way to explore the best of the park and an experience that will stay with you as a treasured memory of your time here. Local riding stables offer daily rides in the Killarney National Park or treks through the MacGillicuddy Reeks for riders of all abilities. A trek through the Gap of Dunloe can be undertaken either as part of an all-day trip coming back to Killarney by boat or alternatively as a one- or two-hour trek. Fishing in Killarney National Park

Trout fishing in Killarney is a popular pastime for both locals and visitors. Killarney is one of the main game fishing centres in the south-west of Ireland and is famous for its brown trout and salmon fishing.

The River Flesk which runs beside Cahernane House has excellent salmon and trout fishing and drains into the Killarney Lakes.

Cahernane House Hotel has fishing rights on the River Flesk which are available to guests of the hotel. An enjoyable days fishing can be spent on a boat on the Killarney lakes with your own private gillie arranged by the hotel. Deep-sea angling can also be arranged and is less than an hour’s drive from the hotel. Ask our staff for more details.
