We hope this message finds you and your family safe and well.  We appreciate that so much has changed but rest assured we are following all the necessary guidelines to ensure you enjoy a safe and comfortable stay.

The safety of our team and our guests remains our priority. Whilst we have integrated additional hygiene and safety measures this has been done discreetly so you can enjoy your stay, safely.

All the aspects that make staying at Cahernane House Hotel so enjoyable will remain in place. The same friendly staff will be looking after your every need but standing a little further away from you.  Those special touches that you love about Cahernane House Hotel will still be there, but perhaps in a more imaginative way. Please just ask for things that are not immediately to hand. 

We have had such an enjoyable and busy time since we were reopened in June. We look forward to welcoming guests until 31st October, thereafter we will have some seasonal closure dates.

Dear friends,

I would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and happy 2021.

We will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, closing Sunday afternoons in December.

The Herbert restaurant and Cellar Bar will be open for non-residents wishing to dine with us, pre-booking essential. 

We can welcome guests from all around the country until January 6th.

For Christmas, we are closed from 20th to 26th of December and reopen from the 27th December to the 10th January 2021.


Our team are working hard to get everything ready to welcome you back in line with all safety protocols and we look forward to seeing you soon.

The entrance to the hotel is framed by a tunnel of greenery which unfurls to reveal the beauty of this imposing manor house, constructed in 1877 and formerly home to the Herbert Family.

The Manor House boasts original features and old world charm in all its rooms. From antiques relevant to the original period and wooden ceiling beams – each room in the Manor House is unique.

The Garden Wing is perfect for those who want a view of the natural landscape. Your room on the ground floor gives you full view to relax with a stunning backdrop.

The newest addition to our room collection is in our fully restored Coach House, adjacent to the Manor House. Every room has been designed to pay homage to the native Kerry flora and fauna and inspired by the beautiful nature that surrounds us. Beautiful features such as claw foot baths, walk-in rain showers and handmade tiles add to the spirit of your Coach House experience.

Awarded 2AA Rosettes for its’ dining experience, our dining room epitomises the style and grandeur of the original house with beautiful views over the gardens and mountains beyond. Our Head Chef Eric Kavanagh has created an extensive menu of delicious, locally sourced, seasonal produce.

Located in the basement of the hotel you’ll find ‘The Cellar Bar’. Previously the original wine cellar of Cahernane House, it has been renovated into a stylish and welcoming space for you to enjoy an extensive selection of beers, spirits, wines and cocktails.

Our History

If these walls could talk

Cahernane House was built as the family residence of Henry Herbert in 1877 at a cost of £5,992. The work was carried out by Collen Brothers Contractors. The original plans by architect James Franklin Fuller, whose portfolio included Ballyseedy Castle, Dromquinna Manor and the Parknasilla Hotel, was for a mansion three times the present size.
