Drinks Selection
Located in the basement of the hotel, our Cellar Bar occupies the original wine cellar of the house. Renovated into a stylish and welcoming space with an extensive selection of beers, spirits, wines and cocktails for you to enjoy. Try the signature cocktail ‘The Herbert’ a smooth combination of gin, spiced rum, elderflower and fresh lime juice! We also offer gin and whiskey tastings.
Local Beers
Enjoy the distinctive flavours of locally brewed craft beers from the family-run Tom Crean Brewery in nearby Kenmare, founded by Tom Crean’s granddaughter, Aileen Crean O’Brien. Brewed naturally and sustainably, these vegan-friendly beers celebrate the adventurous spirit of the legendary Antarctic explorer Tom Crean.
Killowen Kölsch Lager
A crisp, refreshing Kölsch-style lager brewed with Bavarian hops and lager malts. Smooth and balanced, this popular Kenmare brew is perfect for easy drinking.
Scurvy Dog IPA
A light and refreshing session IPA, known for converting wine drinkers to beer lovers. Aromatic hops deliver flavour without excessive bitterness.
Expedition Irish Red Ale
Named after Tom Crean’s Antarctic expeditions, this rich red ale balances malty sweetness with chocolate malts and a blend of American and European hops.
Whiskey at Cahernane
Liberator Irish Whiskey is a true celebration of Kerry’s rich history and heritage. Founded by Maurice O’Connell, a descendant of Daniel O’Connell, the ‘Liberator’ born in Kerry in 1775, this whiskey is a nod to the region’s legacy. Produced on the stunning Lakeview estate, overlooking the Lakes of Killarney, Liberator is a family business with 900 years of history in the making.
Also nearby, Skellig Distillery crafts whiskey with the wild Atlantic Ocean as its backdrop, capturing Ireland’s signature style and rugged landscape. Both distilleries are a testament to Kerry’s thriving whiskey scene.
The cellar bar offers whiskey flights, featuring three or four whiskeys of varying ages and distillation procedures, perfect for broadening your knowledge of Irish whiskeys.
Gins at Cahernane
Cahernane’s passion for Irish craft gin is infectious . With Killarney National Park’s stunning landscapes as her backdrop, her love affair with gin is no surprise. Our favorite is Muckross Irish Gin, crafted in the heart of Kerry using hand-forged wild botanicals. The flavours are a masterclass in capturing Ireland’s natural beauty.
Kerry’s also smitten with Dingle Gin’s unique blend, featuring rowan berry, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn, and heather – a taste of Kerry’s wild side. And then there’s Bertha’s Revenge, the world’s first milk gin, named after legendary Droimeann cow Bertha from Sneem. Bertha’s story is one of local legend, and her spirit lives on in this distinctive gin. With distilleries like Muckross, Dingle, and Bertha’s Revenge, Kerry’s craft gin scene is a true treasure.
