About Ray O'Sullivan
Ray O’Sullivan is one of Kerry’s most captivating contemporary Seanhai’s, a keeper of the old tradition who breathes new life into Ireland’s ancient art of storytelling. With a voice that can summon both laughter and shivers, Ray blends folklore, history, and a touch of the uncanny to transport audiences into worlds where fact and fable meet.
A Killarney native, he has spent decades gathering local legends, unearthing forgotten tales, and weaving them into spellbinding performances. His award-winning work has earned him a Listowel Writers’ Week Storytelling Prize and the prestigious Eamon Kelly bursary Arts Award recognising his talent for creating rich characters, lyrical language, and stories that linger long after the final word. Ray this year received the Honour of the Feile na Laoch Hero of Storytelling and Actor award.

At 9pm, Kerry seanchaí & playwright Ray O’Sullivan will lead a candlelit evening of folklore, history, and ghostly tales in Cahernane House. His captivating stories weave fact and fable into an unforgettable Halloween experience.
On the morning after each storytelling night (11am), guests can join an optional visit to nearby Killegy Graveyard (own transport required). Here, you’ll hear stories of the Herberts of Cahernane and other notable local figures laid to rest there.
