Easter in Killarney

Easter in Ireland is typically spent with family enjoying some time off together, eating home-cooked meals and enjoying chocolate eggs. If you’re lucky enough to be spending Easter in Killarney this year, you’ll be wondering what great Easter activities you can enjoy here. While Easter isn’t as big a holiday as St Patricks Day, there is still a lot to do for couples, groups, families and solo travellers. Here are some of our recommendations on how to spend your Easter in Killarney.

Accommodation

Before you start to explore Killarney and enjoying the Easter fun, you’ll need to make sure you have comfortable accommodation to come back to! Cahernane House Hotel, nestled in the beauty of Killarney offers warm and friendly service, luxurious modern bedrooms and excellent value room rates when you book directly. Our facilities include our award-winning bar & restaurant serving meals throughout the day, the surrounding national park with plenty of activities for all of the family and high-speed wi-fi is available throughout. Kerry is easily reachable by public transport but if you’d prefer to drive, we provide complimentary parking to all guests and visitors to our hotel at our on-site car park.

Dining in Killarney

If you’d love to sample some local produce, prepared by a team of talented and creative chefs, you won’t have to go far. Our in-house Herbert Restaurant was awarded 2 AA Rosettes in recognition of culinary excellence and we use the finest, locally seasonal produce where possible. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in our luxurious and opulently decorated restaurant where you can always enjoy stunning views over the surrounding landscape. We can’t think of a better Easter Treat than enjoying a delicate three-tier afternoon tea with your loved ones.

Cycling in Killarney

Easter marks the change from the darker winter months to the brightness and colour that spring brings. There is no better time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Killarney National Park is a beautiful place to dust off those winter cobwebs and stretch your legs with a walk or cycle. Walks of Killarney National Park can start from the hotel or bicycles are available for guests who may prefer to cycle. Killarney has great cycling routes to suit all interests, from a short scenic spin to Muckross House & Gardens along the Lake Shore to a few hours exploring all that the Park has to offer. Make the most of it and borrow a picnic basket from our concierge and enjoy a lunch al fresco.

Hiking

If you don’t fancy a cycle or aren’t an experienced cyclist, you might prefer to stretch your legs the old fashioned way with a long walk or hike. We are lucky to be surrounded by many great walking trails and the Killarney National Park which is much less busy at Easter time than in high season. With secluded trails, gorgeous lakes and truly picturesque scenery, Killarney National Park is a must-see on your trip to Kerry. Wear warm layers and waterproof shoes as the weather is liable to change at a minute’s notice in this gorgeous green part of the world!

Fishing

For something a little different, why not arrange a fishing trip as part of your Easter break? Killarney is one of the main game fishing centres in the south-west of Ireland and is famous for its brown trout and salmon fishing, especially in the River Flesk whch runs alongside Cahernane House Hotel. The hotel has fishing rights available exclusively to guests of the hotel and we can help you to arrange a day’s fishing on a boat on the Killarney lakes with your own private gillie. For more information we recommend you check out the Fishing in Ireland website.

If you’d like to book your accommodation in Cahernane House Hotel for an Easter Break, don’t delay. This is a busy time for the hotel and rooms fill up faster than you can say ‘chocolate for breakfast’! Contact our friendly team or check our official website to guarantee our best available rates. We look forward to welcoming you and your family over this very special holiday.
