Dry Aged Beef

Olivier Ravoire Cotes Du Rhone Rouge 2020

A dusty garnet colour with aromas and flavours of buttery praline, cherry-plum-pepper compote, twigs and leaves, and olive pit with a silky, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a delightful, medium-long finish displaying notes of berry custard pie and cedar with light oak flavour. A rock-solid Rhone for elevating everyday pleasure. Although this is a softer wine, it goes extremely well with beef.

Zahel Reid Goldberg Laaerberg Blaufrankisch 2018

The Goldberg is probably the best-known location on the Laaerberg in Vienna. This Blaufrankisch comes from particularly old vines at the highest point of the Goldberg and was spontaneously fermented cool in new and used barrique barrels with 20% whole grapes. The style is spicy, ripe stone fruit, rounded, profound palate with ripe acidity and tannin structure, spicy, elegant finish with lots of potential for the next 15 years. A must for any red meat dish.

Lavender Glazed Duck

Montrose Viognier 2020

Montrose is located in the South of France, in the Languedoc region, just a few kilometres from Pézenas and the Mediterranean. They are lucky to own vines located on the sides of two volcanos, Montrose and Montredon, which endow their wines with a characteristic flavour. Creamy but balanced with notes of vanilla, almond, exotic fruits, orange zest and a refreshing acidity that keeps you reaching for more. This Viognier goes extremely well with any poultry dish.

Seifried Pinot Noir 2020

The 2020 Seifried Nelson Pinot Noir has aromatic pomegranate, tamarillo, and fresh cherry notes on the nose. The palate has savoury notes of mocha, together with nutmeg and plummy fruit. Fine oak tannins complement the fruit weight leaving a generous warm finish in the wine. A must for any poultry dish.

Roast Halibut

Post House Sauvignon Blanc 2021

An elegant, refreshing, and fruity Sauvignon Blanc with a crisp upfront palate followed by an elegant finish. A nose of pineapple, green fig, citrus and gooseberry. A great addition to a perfectly balanced dish like our roast halibut.

Aotea Sauvignon Blanc 2022

The 2022 Aotea by the Seifried family Nelson Sauvignon Blanc is from a parcel of fruit which looked simply sensational even before it was off the vine. The Queen Victoria Sauvignon Blanc block really shines with intense varietal flavours. Punchy citrus, fragrant basil and a hint of fresh hops come through with lovely lingering flavours and acidity. Great with any fish dish or salad.

Pan Fried Scallops

Frescobaldi Castello di Pomino Bianco 2021

From one of the most suitable areas in Tuscany for the production of white wines comes a superbly elegant and refined blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco. This is a clear, straw-yellow wine. To the nose, it is intensely flowery with frangipani and jasmine aromas mixed with the fruity notes of apricot and quince. In the glass, the wine also releases exotic scents of tropical fruit and fresh cardamom. When tasted, Pomino Bianco is flavourful and lively, with a balanced structure and persistent finish with a slight aftertaste of ripe raspberries. Great with any seafood dish.

Laroche Chablis Premier Grande Cru 2019

The Chablis 1er Cru “Les Vaucoupins” by Domaine Laroche stems from a vineyard located on the right bank of the Serein. This Chablis 1er Cru “Les Vaucoupins” 2019 by Domaine Laroche seduces with its great finesse and delicate structure. Good with any shellfish.

Our team are happy to recommend from our extensive wine list or suggest alternatives for non-drinkers. Book a table in Herbert Restaurant and enjoy a gourmet dining experience in our hotel near Killarney, County Kerry.
